III. THE INTRODUCTION TO SPACE OF SCIENCE

1. Project’s name: Space of Science, including the Planetarium, the Exploratorium.

With the proposal of Rencontres du Vietnam, in 2014 the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province decided to plan 130 hectares in Quy Hoa, Quy Nhon City in order to develop into the First Science and Education Urban Area in Vietnam. ICISE is as a nuclear/center, and satellite works/items, including research institutes, high quality universities, science parks, etc. will be constructed in this location.

Rencontres du Vietnam proposed the idea and assisted Binh Dinh People’s Committee to implement the project “Space of Science”, including the Planetarium and the Exploratorium – at first the construction of the Science and Education Urban Area. This project was approved by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology approved of the investment from the State budget. Space of Science will be a destination for kids and the people, connecting science to people and developing the love of science and the creativity of the youth.

The Project “Space of Science” is the first scientific project in Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam. Rencontres du Vietnam assisted Binh Dinh Province to implement this project and also advise on the operation in the future.

2. Project’s objectives:

- To construct the first Space of Science in Vietnam with an aim of connecting science to people and developing the love of science for the people, especially young generations.

- To construct the first satellite complex of which the project “The International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE)” is as a nuclear. The planning and constructing of Quy Hoa Science and Education Urban Area will be gradually implemented so as to develop Quy Nhon into a destination for scientists.

 - Space of Science will be an education and science destination for the teenagers, pupils and students in Binh Dinh Province as well as neighboring provinces/cities in Viet Nam. It is also a tourist spot for both national and international visitors when coming to Binh Dinh.

- As the first Space of Science in Vietnam, “Space of Science” is an architectural work of art, a highlight of Quy Nhon – a science and education city in the future. It is also a prerequisite for a model of unique and creative urban development of Binh Dinh in particular and Vietnam in general.
