Weaving sedge mats is a traditional profession that has existed for a long time in Bac Hoai Chau, Hoai Nhon district and some other localities in Binh Dinh. There are many types of woven mats: wide, narrow, smooth and flower mats.

Plain mats are made relatively simple because they are woven from undyed white sedge. The weaving of flower mats is much more elaborate. Red, blue, green, yellow. Food is cooked and dipped in sedge fibers, dipped one by one and dried. The colored sedge fibers, after drying, are woven into flower mats. Usually on a flower mat, in the middle there is the word "life", the word "song Hy", or the word "hundred years of happiness", etc. And in the four corners are the four spirits or four large patterns, the four corners around have decorative patterns of many types, the outer brace has two lines either red or blue, looks very elegant and harmonious.
