Bang Chau bronze casting in Dap Da (An Nhon, Binh Dinh) is one of the long-standing traditional craft villages. Craft villages have many similarities with traditional bronze casting villages in the country in terms of mold making, copper cooking, and mixing.
In order to have a finished bronze product, it must go through a number of stages such as obtaining raw materials, processing raw materials, manufacturing molds, building and repairing foundry houses, foundries, and assembling molds for manufacturing products and carry out casting techniques.
In the past, in Bang Chau casting village, bronze casting makers often gathered into regions, clusters and products including trays, pots, pans, altar lights... In the early days of production, products were still primitive, the mold making process is laborious, the outer mold and the inner mold can only be cast once, the time to remove the mold takes 12 hours, some have to be destroyed and cannot be used again. Gradually, the craft village learned from experience, improved technology in production, and at the same time learned and interacted with other casting villages, so the products made were more and more sophisticated and of high artistic quality. Products are also more diverse such as altar lamps, pots, springs, trays, betel nut boxes, trays, gongs... and decorative items.
Along with time, the bronze casting profession in Bang Chau has not only not been lost, but also created favorable conditions for development. People in the village have both kept their own unique features of a traditional craft village and turned the traditional craft into a legitimate source of income, contributing to improving the economic and cultural life of the locality.
