Perhaps visitors will be very surprised when setting foot on the "king land" of An Nhon, Binh Dinh because this capital is surrounded by many craft villages. For hundreds of years, the artisans in the craft villages have remained quietly, still diligently preserving the inherent idyllic beauty and bringing the quintessence of their ancestors to life. Leaving Quy Nhon city about 20 km to the North, we will encounter the famous Van Son terracotta pottery village. Van Son is the oldest craft village of Binh Dinh up to now.
Van Son pottery and the echo of time
In the past, the center of the pottery village was located deep in An Xuan hamlet, Nhan Thap village, Nhon Hau commune, An Nhon district. About 70 years ago, the good clay for raw materials in this area was exhausted, the center of the pottery village had to move closer to the new raw material area, Van Son pottery village was formed like that.
Van Son ceramics are created by skillful hands
Van Son pottery profession inherits the tradition of pottery production of the Cham people. Van Son ceramics, experiencing many ups and downs, still has a warm, fresh beauty like the color of tower bricks. Van Son craft village specializes in the production of terracotta ceramics with a wide range of products for daily life such as jars, pots, ang, khap, ornamental pots of all kinds, jars, pots, pots, kettles, ovens, braised soil, pigs. soil, etc. Van Son pottery still follows the car trips to all parts of the country.
Ivory white clay without any grit to create a wonderful ceramic product
I thought that in the 21st century, there would be no place for earthenware. However, craft villages still live comfortably because land to Vietnamese people is not only land but "land has turned into soul". It's not that there are people far from home, flying halfway around the world because of the nostalgia for my mother's stooped rice cooker with gray hair, and "nostalgic" restaurants that are becoming more and more popular.
Over hundreds of years with many ups and downs and changes of the times, Van Son pottery village still exists. Van Son workers, with pride in their traditional profession, still work hard to overcome the hardships of their profession to bring to life fresh and original red ceramic products, which are very changing in everyday life but close and friendly…
Van Son pottery has been associated with the people here for generations
Van Son pottery is not picky, not elaborate, but soulful, sincere, and quietly contributes to thickening cultural sediments, creating a unique beauty for this place.
