Thuong Son irrigation system

- Project location: Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province

- Necessity of the project: The southern area of Kon River is used for rice production and sugarcane material for Binh Dinh Sugarcane Factory. The whole area does not have any large-scaled irrigation works so as to actively irrigate all this location.

- To build Thuong Son Irrigation System to ensure the gravity water for this area. This creates sustainable development and promotes the water sources for agriculture and sugarcane material. This also creates job opportunities, reduce the poverty and improve the people’s lives in project-based localities.

- Objectives of the project: To build the irrigation system in order to increase the cultivated area and crop productivity. This also ensure the stable gravity irrigation for 3,500 hectares of cultivated land in Tay Thuan commune, Tay Giang commune, Binh Tuong commune, Tay Phu commune, and Tay Xuan commune (Tay Son district)

- Scale of the project:

         + Head works: To build the reinforced concrete spillway in Ca stream. The spillway has doors which can be opened and closed by vitme. The spillway has 24.2 meters in length and 3.3 meters in height. The drainage flow is 270 cubic meters / second.

          + Offtake regulator: includes 2 reinforced concrete open-air gates. The left intake gets water from N1 canal, and the right one gets water from N2 canal.

          + Canal system and works on the canal: 2 canals with a total length of 112 kilometers, irrigating 3,500 hectares.

- Estimated funding of the project: 9 million USD.
