A workshop on English teaching method

On the morning of November 29, 2016, Foreign Language Department – Quy Nhon University in collaboration with the U.S Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City organized the workshop on English teaching method. Master Christopher McDonnell from the U.S Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City chaired the workshop. The workshop was attended by many lecturers of Foreign Language Department – Quy Nhon University, English graduates at the University and the fourth –year students of English.

Master Christopher McDonnell from the U.S Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City talked about the learner-centered teaching method.

At the workshop, Mr. Christopher McDonnell gave a brief on the two popular teaching methods, including the learner-centered method and the combination of 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing)

The workshop helped participants have more ideas and new teaching materials and the participants had opportunities to share difficulties during their teaching activities, finding out appropriate solutions together.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan – Dean of Foreign Language Department – Quy Nhon University said, since academic year 2015-2016 the Department had deployed a new teaching method with a combination of 4 skills; as a result, workshops related to new English teaching methods and chaired by experienced experts from developed countries would be necessary and useful.
