At the meeting, Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung gave a brief on the actual situation, potential and advantages for the provincial agricultural development. The Chairman said the provincial agricultural sector had fully developed in such fields as the cultivation, cattle-breeding and fishery. In terms of the cultivation, the activities of crop structural change and crop plants have been done well, and the productivity is high compared to the region and the country. Concentrated production areas linked to the processing industry have been initially formed. Besides, the province has also formed concentrated cattle-raising areas, using advanced devices and high-quality breeding animals to achieve the highest economic effectiveness. In terms of fishery, the province received Japanese tuna fishing equipment and technique transfer for export, etc.

However, the provincial agricultural production is facing with difficulties due to small production models, low-quality products. The application of mechanization and the scientific and technical advances into production is still limited. Besides, the agricultural production mainly depends on the nature, being affected by the drought and the flood. The linking to the markets has faced with difficulties.

Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee hoped that Mr. Hitoshi Kato and members of the delegation would research and assist in the provincial agricultural development, helping the province deal with difficulties in production, especially the application of advanced technology in production; helping the province with human resources in agricultural sector, proposing solutions to increase the quality of products to be consumed with large quantity, etc.

Mr. Hitoshi Kato and professors of Ryukoku University also shared their experience in agricultural production in Japan; at the same time, committed to calling for Japanese enterprises to invest in Binh Dinh with the aim of developing the provincial agricultural sector. They also continued to help the province promote the transfer of technical advances in agricultural sector, developing cattle-breeding and fishery exploitation and process.
