Strengthening the propaganda on the ASEAN community
At the conference, Mr. Vu Dang Dung – Director General of the ASEAN Department updated and highlighted the situations in many fields of the world and the region in recent years; the effects of the ASEAN Community toward Vietnam and the orientation of Vietnam in the coming time.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on August 8, 1967 with 5 initial members, gradually developed into a comprehensive cooperative organization, including 10 countries in Southeast Asia and officially became the ASEAN Community on December 31, 2015. The establishment of the ASEAN Community has shown the ASEAN historical landmark and linking progress and has importantly special meaning toward the association, the region as well as each member of the ASEAN Community.
Vietnam officially joined ASEAN on July 28, 1995. After 21 years of participation in ASEAN, it has brought Vietnam important and practical benefits with an environment of peace and stability, favorable for the national security and the development of the country. ASEAN has also actively supported Vietnam for the deployment of the foreign policy of independence, sovereignty, diversification and multi-lateralization, regional and international integration. In the coming time, Vietnam confirms the ASEAN cooperation (both multilateral and bilateral) will become strategic significance.
