The Opening Ceremony of the International Conference on mathematics

The Scientific Conference “Analysis, Probability and Their Applications” on the occasion of 10 years of the Vietnamese-French master in applied mathematics was opened on the afternoon of December 11, 2016.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Ho Quoc Dung – Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee, Prof. Tran Thanh Van – President of Rencontres du Vietnam, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau – Director of Advanced Mathematics Research Institute in Vietnam – Professor of Chicago University (America) – the first Vietnamese awarded Fields Medal and about 60 scientists from 7 countries in the world.

The conference lasts until December 16, 2016. The conference aims at presenting scientific researches of young Vietnamese mathematicians in the Vietnamese-French master in applied mathematics. This program (this year is the tenth year) is the result of the partnership between six universities in France (Orléans, Tours, Ecole Polytechnique, Bordeaux, Paris XIII and Rennes) and three universities in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh National University, Hue University and Quy Nhon University)

Besides, this is the opportunity for scientists to meet one another and share experience between well-known mathematicians and also opportunity for students of master in applied mathematics to access modern mathematics. The program of master in applied mathematics mainly focuses on the applications of mathematics. However, graduates are trained not only applied mathematics, but also mathematical physics. The meetings between students of master in applied mathematics and graduates are opportunities to help young students seek for their supervisors of doctoral thesis as well as explore the research fields of mathematics.

Speaking at the opening session, Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung said, the province is very delighted and honored to welcome and receive scientists to Quy Nhon to participate in the international mathematics conference “Analysis, Probability and Their Applications” on the occasion of 10 years of the Vietnamese-French master in applied mathematics. The province committed to creating the most favorable conditions and hoped that Quy Nhon would be not only “an address” for international conferences but also “a destination” for scientific research of international scientists, as a lever for the development of Vietnam science.
