Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) receives the Australian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City

At the reception, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, PPC Chairman gave a brief on the characteristics, potential, strengths and provincial socio-economic development situation in the past years as well as development orientation in the coming time.

In terms of the cooperation with Australia, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said: For the past years, Binh Dinh has always been interested in developing the friendship and cooperation relations with Australian organizations and partners. Despite many efforts, the results of attracting investment from Australian businesses in the province are still quite modest. Up to now, the province has 6 projects of Australian investors, with a total registered capital of USD 23.24 million, including: 3 projects in the aquaculture field and 3 projects in industrial production. In general, these projects are currently operating effectively, contributing to creating jobs and increasing incomes for local people. Besides, the trade in goods between Binh Dinh and Australia is not strong. In 2022, Binh Dinh province's export turnover to the Australian market reaches more than USD 45.4 million, mainly mineral products and construction materials, PE rattan furniture, domestic refined wood products, products from iron and steel, etc.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan highly valued and thanked the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City for connecting and promoting the cooperation 

between Binh Dinh province and Australian localities and partners in the past years. At the same time, he hoped that the Consul General would take interest in recommending and connecting Australian businesses to Binh Dinh province; strengthening the support in the province’s trade promotion activities; promoting and expanding the product’s consumption market in order to increase the introduction of the province’s products with strengths such as seafood, garment, and wood products into the Australian market.

The Australian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City highly appreciated the provincial potential and believed the cooperation relation between Australia and Binh Dinh province would be further expanded and developed in the coming time.

Ms. Sarah Hooper affirmed the strategic partnership relation between Australia and Vietnam; especially when the Strategy for Strengthening Economic Cooperation between Vietnam and Australia was announced, it deepened the economic relation, opening up significant opportunities for businesses of the two countries. This is an important basis for expanding the cooperation between Australia and Vietnam in general, and between Australia and localities in Vietnam in particular, including Binh Dinh province.

Ms. Sarah Hooper, the Australian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City said that she would promote the cooperation relation between Australia and Binh Dinh province with specific, practical and effective activities in the coming time.
