Handover ceremony of climate change adaptation medical station within the framework of the Vietnam - Korea Peace Village Project

(binhdinh.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of May 22, in Phuoc Thanh commune (Tuy Phuoc), the Vietnam - Korea Peace Village Project Management Board in Binh Dinh province held a handover ceremony of the medical station's unit.  Phuoc Thanh commune within the framework of the Vietnam - Korea Peace Village Project (KVPVP) in Binh Dinh province.  Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang - Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee;  Mr. Lee Byung Hwa - Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Vietnam;  Ms. Ramla Khalidi - Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP);  Mr. Le Quang Hop - Permanent Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC).

 The Binh Dinh Province KVPVP project is proposed based on KOICA's non-refundable ODA grant through UNDP to Vietnam to enhance the safety of people living in communities in the project area and sustainable rural development through the work of consolidating and improving livelihoods and infrastructure for communities in the project area of ​​Binh Dinh province.  This project includes 4 components;  Of which, the new construction of the medical station unit in Phuoc Thanh commune, Tuy Phuoc district belongs to component 3 (Enhancing adaptive capacity for people in target areas by building socio-economic infrastructure  society to adapt well through the Project's on building houses and commune health stations to combat storms and floods).

 After 3 months of urgent construction, the project was completed, ensuring progress and quality.  The project is a 1-storey house, with a total floor area of ​​77.4m2;  includes 3 rooms: Remote Medical Examination and Treatment room, Population - Family Planning room, Laboratory room.  The project is equipped with a solar energy system to provide continuous electricity, a cold box for transporting vaccines, a specialized refrigerator, and a set of information technology equipment to perform remote medical examination and treatment (including computers for remote medical examination and treatment, speakerphone, microphone and camera), stainless steel water tank for cleaning and infection prevention, helping to reduce the impact of climate change and adapt to storms and floods, ensuring continuity  in providing essential medical services and maintaining sustainable operations of the Medical Station.

 Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang emphasized: Binh Dinh is a province heavily affected by the consequences of landmines after the war and natural disasters of storms and floods.  Therefore, the implementation of the KVPVP Project in the province is extremely necessary, thereby bringing direct benefits to the people of the project area, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.  In particular, the new construction of the Phuoc Thanh Commune Medical Station unit contributes to perfecting facilities, controlling and preventing epidemics, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at the grassroots medical level, and providing care  and protect people's health.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang thanked UNDP Vietnam and KOICA for working closely and supporting Binh Dinh province in the past to implement programs and projects of UNDP Vietnam and KOICA  in the local area.

 Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang requested the Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee and Phuoc Thanh Commune People's Committee to direct the Phuoc Thanh Commune Medical Station to organize the reception, management, and use of the project to promote its effectiveness.  Department of Planning and Investment, KVPVP Project Management Board in Binh Dinh province, related sectors continue to guide and support localities and management units in the management and operation of works to ensure safety, fully utilize its functions, best serve the people of the project area, and comply with the approved project objectives.

 Orienting the plan for 2024 and the following years of the Binh Dinh Provincial KVPVP Project, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang requested the Department of Planning and Investment to preside and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities.  relevant authorities continue to ensure the approved progress meets and complies with donor requirements.  The Provincial People's Committee commits to coordinate, closely, and accompany sponsors KOICA and UNDP to implement the project effectively.

 Immediately after the ceremony, the delegation of KOICA, UNDP, and the Vietnam - Korea Peace Village Project Management Board in Binh Dinh province visited 02 households that received support to build safe houses to withstand storms in Phuoc Thanh commune.

 

 Delegates took souvenir photos at Ms. Cao Thi Xuan Hong's household (hamlet 2, Canh An 2 village, Phuoc Thanh commune), a household that received support to build safe houses to withstand storms and floods under component 3 of the Binh Dinh province KVPVP Project .
