Online conference to celebrate National Digital Transformation Day
(binhdinh.gov.vn) - On the morning of October 12, in Hanoi, the Government organized the Program to celebrate National Digital Transformation Day 2024 (abbreviated as the Program) online to 63 provinces and cities nationwide, to review achievements, recognize the results of the activities of community digital technology groups, promote the national digital transformation process, improve the quality of service to the community, people and businesses. Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation chaired the Program.
Attending the conference at the Binh Dinh bridge point were Comrade Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Administrative Reform, Digital Transformation and Project 06 provinces; members of the Provincial Steering Committee on Digital Transformation; leaders of departments, branches and sectors of the province.

On April 22, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 505/QD-TTg, accordingly, October 10 every year is the National Digital Transformation Day to accelerate the progress of implementing national digital transformation tasks, effectively implementing the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030. At the same time, raising awareness of the people and the whole society about the role, significance and benefits of digital transformation; promoting the participation of the entire political system, synchronous actions at all levels and the participation of the entire population to ensure the success of digital transformation.
In 2024, the national digital transformation program will have the theme: "Developing the digital economy with 4 pillars of information technology industry, digitalization of economic sectors, digital governance, digital data - Important driving force for fast and sustainable socio-economic development".
Speaking at the program, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that this is the third consecutive year that we have organized the Program to celebrate National Digital Transformation Day - this important event demonstrates the determination of the Party, State, political system, business community and people nationwide to join hands in national digital transformation, develop the digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens.
The event also conveys the message of the Government's determination to pursue the digital transformation revolution in a profound, comprehensive, substantive and effective manner to promote fast and sustainable socio-economic development, improve the material and spiritual life of the people and modernize national governance, bringing benefits to all people and the country. In particular, if digital transformation is done well, Vietnam's ranking in digital transformation in the world will increase, contributing to building and developing the national brand, thereby promoting and attracting the best investment. "We are behind in digital transformation, so we must have the spirit of catching up, moving forward and surpassing", the Prime Minister said, and clearly stated the three breakthroughs in digital transformation: digital institutions, digital infrastructure and digital people. The Prime Minister noted that this requires active participation, especially from leaders at all levels and sectors; at the same time, there must be no shortage of electricity or telecommunications signals, especially in remote areas.
According to the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications, in 2024, the digital transformation process will continue to be promoted and achieve many important results. Regarding the development of digital infrastructure, up to now, the rate of households using broadband fiber optic internet has reached 82.2% (an increase of 2.6% compared to the end of 2023). In 2024, 87% of Vietnam's population will use smartphones. Network operators have implemented the shutdown of 2G waves, helping people switch to using 4G and 5G broadband services with higher quality. Regarding digital platforms and digital data, the national population database has connected and shared data with 18 ministries, branches, 63 localities, and 4 enterprises, serving more than 1.3 billion lookup requests and 537 million information synchronizations. The VNeID electronic identification application has more than 20 million electronic identification card users, 8 million identification accounts logging into the public service portal and more than 14 million citizen information integrated into the electronic health book. The rate of online records nationwide reached 43.8%. Digital technology industry revenue in the first 9 months of 2024 reached 118 billion USD (up 17.78% compared to the first 9 months of 2023). Hundreds of Vietnamese agricultural products are sold on e-commerce platforms.
Regarding digital society, the Ministry of Public Security has issued more than 87 million chip-embedded citizen identification cards, collected 75.7 million electronic identification records; over 87% of adults have electronic payment accounts; more than 10 million digital signatures have been issued.
Regarding the activities of the CNSCĐ teams, up to now, 100% of provinces and cities across the country have established CNSCĐ teams in each village, residential group, residential area, hamlet, and residential hamlet with 93,524 teams and nearly 457,820 members. As an extension of the Steering Committee for Digital Transformation from the province, district to commune, ward, town, village, team, CNSCĐ teams have directly gone to every alley, knocked on every door, guided each person to bring digital platforms, digital technology, and digital skills to the people, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital transformation journey. At the program, based on suggestions from the Prime Minister, delegates focused on fully, objectively, and accurately assessing the results achieved in national digital transformation in 2024, especially in the digital economy; proposing strategic orientations, viewpoints, tasks, and key solutions on digital transformation and digital economic development. Along with that, there are dialogues and discussions with businesses and typical members of the Community Digital Technology Group.

In his concluding speech at the program, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that digital transformation is an inevitable trend, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority for rapid and sustainable development; it is the cause of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people, contributing to realizing the aspiration of building a strong, prosperous country, a prosperous and happy people, with no one left behind.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister acknowledged, warmly commended and highly appreciated the efforts, determination and achievements of ministries, sectors, localities, business communities and people in implementing digital transformation in 2024. Clearly identifying key tasks in the coming time, the Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors and localities to pay attention to, promptly detect and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing digital transformation; focus resources on promoting digital transformation with a focus and key points with innovative thinking; transform and improve traditional industries with digital industry; develop agriculture based on digital technology, towards high-tech agriculture, building smart rural areas; promote digital transformation in the field of trade and services, increase the use of electronic invoices and cashless payments; promote trading of goods and services in the digital space; promote digital transformation, improve the quality of healthcare services, education - training, vocational training... gradually improve and enrich the material and spiritual life of the people...
In the immediate future, in the last months of 2024, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to be stronger, more determined, accelerate and make breakthroughs, strive to achieve the highest digital transformation goals set on the pillars of industry, information technology; digitalization of economic sectors; digital governance; digital data; focus on solutions to promote the development of digital institutions, digital infrastructure, digital human resources; promote the implementation of Project 06, form a digital citizen ecosystem, develop high-quality human resources to serve digital transformation; enhance international exchange and cooperation in digital transformation; strive to bring all public services on digital platforms of the Government, all levels, branches, agencies and localities to reduce costs and travel time for people and businesses; Strengthening solutions to ensure network information security in digital transformation...
