 Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Ngo Hoang Nam - Chairman of the City People's Committee said that in the first 6 months of the year, the City People's Committee focused on leading, directing and organizing the implementation of tasks and targets for economic development - Society achieved positive results. Economic indicators have grown quite well over the same period, such as the total value of products in the city (according to 2010 comparative prices) in the first 6 months of 2024 estimated at 29,774.6 billion VND, an increase of 9.7%. compared to the same period last year (estimated to reach 46% of the 2024 plan assigned by the province). Of which, the value of industrial and construction products is estimated at 18,382.1 billion VND, an increase of 10.3%. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue are estimated at 28,040.6 billion VND, an increase of 15.7%, export turnover is estimated at 582.5 million USD, an increase of 25.7%.

 Tourism activities continue to grow strongly with a series of cultural and sports events being organized. After 6 months, Quy Nhon is estimated to welcome 5.1 million visitors, an increase of 106%, tourism revenue is estimated to reach more than 13,500 billion VND, an increase of 96.9% over the same period. The City People's Committee has issued a Plan to build urban civilization and environmental sanitation to maintain the standard of "ASEAN Clean Tourism City"; Building the Night Market Project, Quy Nhon Walking Street Project... to serve tourism development... Cultural activities have made many advances, social security policies have been paid attention and supported promptly, the city's people's lives are basically stable; Defence and security is maintained; Social order and safety are guaranteed.

 However, besides the achieved results, there are still shortcomings and limitations such as the city's budget revenue has not reached the rate set out as planned for the first 6 months of 2024. Compensation and site clearance of key works and projects are still behind schedule, the implementation of a number of key programs and tasks of the City People's Committee is not timely...

 At the meeting, leaders of Quy Nhon city also proposed that the Provincial People's Committee direct the Department of Construction to soon complete the overall adjustment of the general planning of Quy Nhon city and surrounding areas to 2035, with a vision to 2050 and  give opinions on adjusting and approving other plans to serve economic development and attract investment; adjust and expand the Dong Da - Tran Hung Dao 5 intersection to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours;  Early approval of the project to relocate 2 industrial clusters Quang Trung and Nhon Binh; Direct investors to plant trees on roads and complete the construction of gardens and green areas in residential areas invested from the provincial budget according to approved planning before handing over to the City People's Committee managed according to regulations…

 Speaking at the meeting, Quy Nhon City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Dung said that Quy Nhon City determined to focus on developing trade and tourism services. Therefore, in addition to local efforts, the city hopes that the province and other departments will support the development of the night economy model to increase the value of trade and services as well as retain tourists coming to have fun.

 Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the socio-economic development results of Quy Nhon City in the first 6 months of the year. Many development targets and goals were achieved very positively. The most important thing is the participation and unanimous determination of the entire political system with the spirit and responsibility for the development of the homeland. According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Quy Nhon's image has spread to the world with a series of international cultural and sports events recently held and the number of tourists coming to the coastal city is increasing.

 Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan also pointed out the shortcomings, limitations, and bottlenecks in developing Quy Nhon in the coming time, which is that the city's space and infrastructure will begin to be cramped and overloaded when organizing events.  Events, festivals, and the city still have some areas that are not spacious, clean, and poorly lit. Therefore, the city needs to pay attention to continuing to expand city space, correct shortcomings and invest in more infrastructure to serve development requirements. Some highlight projects have been slow to deploy, and infrastructure for tourism and entertainment is still limited. Budget collection, especially tax collection in the service sector, is still not close to reality. The government apparatus has changed but has not met actual requirements.  Somewhere in the implementation of public service ethics, there is still a situation where worms spoil the pot and need to be rectified.

 Regarding the city's development orientation in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: Quy Nhon is a regional cultural center, focusing on developing trade, services and tourism. Currently, the city's industrial density is still large, which shows that trade and tourism services need to develop more strongly and require the expansion of Quy Nhon in several directions, including some priority directions.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, first of all we will focus on completing the targets for 2024 and the entire term. We have a good direction but must execute well to achieve them;  Focus on completing the planning and adjusting the planning of Quy Nhon city in the direction of expanding the city.

The city continues to pay attention to environmental protection, waste collection, and propaganda to mobilize people to maintain the general hygiene of the city; Strengthen urban order management, planning management, gradually standardize urban areas, urban embellishment, and create check-in points for tourists. Continue to implement the task of building a smart city, in which it is necessary to build a software with all relevant information of the city.
