 Reporting at the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that in recent times, all levels, branches, and the National Steering Committee on combating illegal and unreported fishing  and unregulated (IUU) have made many efforts in organizing and implementing policies and laws; Build a system to monitor, control and supervise fishing vessels, promote state management, and gradually reduce the number of violations.

 However, the development of Vietnam's fisheries industry is not sustainable, the European Commission's "Yellow Card" warning has not been removed, and it has not fully complied with regulations against illegal, unreported and unreported fishing. The implementation of a comprehensive fleet management and monitoring system; Update the national fishing vessel database; trace the origin of aquatic products; building a seafood production chain linking fishermen, businesses and authorities; Handling of violations is still limited.

 In order to implement the Directive of the Secretariat in the coming time to achieve the highest efficiency, at the conference, Comrade Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister said that the Government has issued Action program and plan of the Government to implement Directive No. 32-CT/TW dated April 10, 2024 of the Secretariat. In particular, the goal of this program and plan is to identify the fight against IUU exploitation as an important, urgent task with long-term significance for sustainable development of the fisheries industry; Achieve the goal of removing the "Yellow Card" warning in 2024.

 At the conference, representatives of ministries, branches and localities focused on discussing remaining problems and limitations and directions for implementing Directive No. 32 in the most effective way, demonstrating high determination in implementation. Implement solutions in the fight against IUU fishing and sustainable development of the Fisheries industry.

 Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that the whole province has 5,306 fishing vessels, with more than 40% of fishing vessels moving to fishing grounds nationwide, with a large concentration of fishing vessels. in the southern provinces. After more than 6 years of implementing solutions to combat IUU fishing, Binh Dinh province has considered this a central and important task in sustainable fisheries development. The province has focused on directing all levels and sectors to implement drastic solutions and has initially achieved positive results.

At the conference, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan proposed that the Central Government direct law enforcement forces at sea to strengthen patrols and control in sea areas, inspect and Strictly handle fishing vessels operating in the wrong areas, wrong routes and in sea areas bordering countries in the region to promptly protect, prevent and handle Vietnamese fishing vessels violating other countries' waters. Strengthen propaganda work, combine inspection, control, and strict management of groups of fishing vessels from outside the province that regularly export and import from localities, especially fishing vessels under 15 meters in length operating.  In open areas, cruise monitoring equipment must not be installed to prevent, limit, and prevent fishing vessels from violating illegal fishing in foreign waters. Pay attention to investing in upgrading fishing ports and anchoring areas, avoiding storms for fishing vessels to perform well the management of the fleet, and to better serve the work of tracing the origin of seafood from exploitation.

 Comrade Truong Thi Mai requested that ministries, branches and localities need to show greater determination towards the goal of removing the "yellow card" in 2024. Accordingly, it is necessary to thoroughly grasp the Party's policies and resolutions, including Directive No. 32-CT/TW on strengthening the Party's leadership and direction in combating IUU fishing and developing a sustainable fisheries industry.
