President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang attending the Ceremony of transferring Japanese tuna fishing techniques and equipment to Binh Dinh fishermen
President Truong Tan Sang had a talk with fisherman Nguyen Viet Hang, the first steel-hulled fishing vessel owner in Binh Dinh
The ceremony was attended by President Truong Tan Sang; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry Vu Van Tam; leader representatives of relevant ministries, central agencies; JICA leader representatives; Japan – Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai. For the local government representative, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Member of the Central Party Committee, Former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Le Kim Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and the provincial leaders, former leaders, leader representatives of related departments and agencies in the province.
At the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang, the leader of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, leaders of Binh Dinh Province, and Binh Dinh fishermen witnessed the signing ceremony of transferring Japanese tuna fishing techniques and equipment for 25 fishing vessels of Binh Dinh fishermen and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Kagoshima University (Japan) and Binh Dinh People’s Committee regarding the research of fishery potential. Also at the ceremony, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province gave money to improve tuna storage cellars for 25 vessel owners, each of whom was assisted 30 million VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung confirmed, “Binh Dinh Province has developed tuna production models under the procedure of exploiting, preliminary processing, preserving on the vessels, classifying and managing quality, transporting ashore under Japanese technology in order for both domestic usage and export with the aim of enhancing the quality and the value of oceanic tunas. This also contributes to improving the brand name of Binh Dinh oceanic tunas so as to increase the income and productive effectiveness of Binh Dinh fishermen, enterprises as well as raise the fishery export turnover of the province”
Mr. Vu Van Tam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry confirmed, “This is a breakthrough of the fishery sector in the process of re-organizing production at sea with the modern and efficient orientation. Presently, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa are actively cooperating with Japanese agencies, associations, and enterprises so as to build the models, technical support and technological transfer of modern fish catching, which helped fishermen to feel secure with their careers and protect the country’s sovereignty at sea.
Also at the ceremony, leaders of Binh Dinh Province requested project-based fishermen to have full awareness, strictly follow the procedure, guideline of experts and successfully apply the Japanese tuna fishing techniques so as to increase the effectiveness of tuna exploitation.
On this occasion, President Truong Tan Sang gave his regards to the production situation of Binh Dinh fishermen and offered gifts to the project-based fishermen who have great contribution to their offshore activities and protect the country’s sovereignty.
