The Opening Ceremony of the International Workshop “The Development of Astrophysics in Vietnam: Opportunities and Challenges”

The workshop was attended by 50 delegates, including well-known scientists. They used to work for or are working for the observatories, space centers in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Rencontres du Vietnam, Quy Nhon University, Tay Nguyen (Highlands) University and Prof Tran Thanh Van also attended the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop is to share experience between Vietnam and international scientists, establish programs to develop astrophysics in Vietnam and promote the cooperation in particular scientific fields between Vietnamese researchers and community in the world. During the workshop, there are intensive discussions on scientific and technical issues, chaired by international leading scientists. The workshop also focuses on experience of Vietnam in astrophysics.
Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien, a scientist at NASA, the U.S., Head of Organizing Committee of the workshop has worked as a bridge to connect international scientists to participate in the workshop. He said, “This is a good opportunity for international scientists to share experience with Vietnamese scientists. The workshop attracts scientists of different fields of astrophysics. For long term Vietnam needs to prepare human resources for this field.”
The workshop lasts until August 2, 2016.
