(binhdinh.gov.vn) - On the morning of January 16, at the Provincial People's Committee Office, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan received and worked with the delegation of WPD Group (Germany), led by Mr. Hans-Christoph Brumberg, CEO of the Group in Asia, and members of the Group. Attending the meeting were leaders of departments, branches and Vinh Thanh district.

At the meeting, Mr. Hans-Christoph Brumberg said that WPD is a large corporation in the field of wind power in Germany and Europe. Currently, Vietnam's national strategy on green growth is attracting the attention of large corporations specializing in investing in renewable energy development in the world, including WPD. WPD Vietnam Company, a member of WPD Group, has conducted field surveys, conducted wind measurements to assess wind potential and research the development of wind power projects in Vinh Thanh district in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Duyen, General Director of WPD Vietnam Company informed that the Company is conducting wind measurements to serve the formation and implementation of wind power projects in 4 provinces: Lang Son, Kon Tum, Phu Yen and Binh Dinh. Particularly in Binh Dinh, from July 2024, the company will conduct wind measurements in Vinh Thuan commune, Vinh Thanh district; At the same time, collect wind indicators in some areas where wind power projects have been deployed in Binh Dinh for comparison. Through measurement, Vinh Thuan commune has all the factors to invest in wind power projects. It is expected that in Vinh Thuan, the company will propose to invest in a 143MW wind power plant project, with a total investment of about 4,600 billion VND, and a land use area of about 48 hectares.
From now until July 2025, the company strives to have official wind measurement data, and by early 2026, all technical factors will be fully evaluated to be able to report on the project's feasibility study to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for consideration. The company is determined to complete these issues and hopes that the province will support the proposal of this project to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to include it in the VIII power plan, as a basis for project implementation. In addition, the investor proposes that the Provincial People's Committee consider and include the Vinh Thuan project area in the list of land plots that need to be submitted to the Provincial People's Council to have a basis for organizing bidding and selecting investors to implement the project; consider organizing the selection of investors for the Vinh Thuan project in the second quarter of 2026, when all legal conditions are met.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan thanked WPD Group and WPD Vietnam Company for their orientation in researching and investing in a wind power project in Binh Dinh. According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnamese Government advocates the development of clean energy, so the VIII power plan is open. Binh Dinh has many favorable factors for developing renewable energy, including wind power; the power transmission system in Binh Dinh is also very good. The province also identifies wind power as a key economic sector and is attracting investors to develop projects. These are favorable conditions and very good opportunities for WPD Group.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: the province's viewpoint is to support WPD in investing in a wind power project in Vinh Thanh. If WPD Group and WPD Vietnam Company find that there are sufficient factors to promote investment in the project, they must do it immediately and quickly. The provincial departments and branches will support the relevant legal procedures for the Group to speed up the implementation progress.
