Conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy key tasks in 2025 of the Transport sector

(binhdinh.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of December 30, the Ministry of Transport held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy key tasks in 2025. The conference was connected online from the main bridge in Hanoi to provinces and cities. Comrade Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister attended and directed the conference.

 In 2024, all aspects of the transport sector have completed the set plan, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, being recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, the State, and public opinion, creating an exciting atmosphere among the masses. In particular, the direction and operation work has many innovations, creativity, determination, focus, and key points, thereby creating a new atmosphere, a spirit of solidarity, joint efforts, and consensus for the common interests of the nation and people. The progress of important national and key projects of the transport sector has been basically guaranteed, many difficulties and long-standing problems have been resolved, some projects are likely to be completed 3 to 6 months ahead of schedule, the last 2 component projects on the North-South expressway, phase 1, have been inaugurated and put into operation, bringing the total number of expressway kilometers nationwide to more than 2,000 km;  The Ministry of Transport continues to be one of the ministries, branches and localities with the highest average disbursement rate in the country; investment preparation work is guaranteed, and the last two projects to connect the Ho Chi Minh road from North to South have been started according to the Resolution of the National Assembly. The work of building and perfecting institutions has many breakthroughs, contributing to promoting decentralization, decentralization, promoting production and business activities, and removing difficulties for enterprises. The work of preparing for investment, implementing construction, and submitting very important projects, of long-term strategic nature, with very large scale and complex requirements has been approved, such as the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project, and adjusting the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport Project. The work of advising, recommending and proposing to the Government and the Prime Minister has been carried out promptly, ensuring objectivity, honesty and efficiency.  In particular, many hot and complicated issues related to many ministries, branches and localities such as site clearance, handling of material supply problems for important national projects, key projects in the transport sector were promptly resolved, speeding up the progress of the projects. The management of public finance and assets was strengthened, tightening discipline and order in all areas: Building and perfecting institutions; Managing state budget revenue; Managing state budget expenditure; Financial autonomy mechanism of public service units; Managing and using public assets; Preparing state budget settlement reports and annual state financial reports; Practicing thrift and combating waste. Transportation activities continued to have many positive changes, transportation output increased steadily in all areas, service quality continued to be improved.  The maritime, inland waterway, and railway sectors continue to be focused on promoting development, contributing to reducing pressure on roads, reducing congestion, traffic accidents, and environmental pollution...

At the conference, leaders of ministries, branches, localities and units gave speeches, evaluated the results achieved, the limitations, obstacles and difficulties that need to be overcome; shared lessons learned; analyzed the situation and proposed solutions to implement tasks in the field of transport.

In his speech at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by the transport sector in the past time.  Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport to continue to reorganize the Ministry and its agencies and units to ensure streamlining, reducing focal points, improving effectiveness and efficiency of operations in accordance with the Central Committee's policies, the direction of the Central Steering Committee on summarizing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee and the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister. In addition, the Ministry of Transport needs to ensure synchronous development of transport between regions. Investment in transport routes needs to be considered in the context of the overall ecosystem, ensuring connectivity and synchronization to optimize efficiency. The transport sector is also required to continue institutional reform, especially in areas such as railways, maritime, inland waterways and aviation, after focusing on breakthroughs in the road sector.
