Advise on effective solutions to combat IUU fishing, take good care of the lives of soldiers and people in coastal border areas

The report at the conference said that in 2024, the Provincial Border Guard proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to synchronously and effectively deploy border protection measures; firmly manage and protect territorial sovereignty and national border security; maintain political security and social order in the coastal border area.  In particular, the provincial Border Guard has focused on leading and directing the drastic implementation of tasks and solutions to combat IUU fishing and effectively combat all types of crimes, especially dismantling the organization and brokerage lines for others to exit and enter the country to bring fishing boats and fishermen to illegally exploit aquatic products outside Vietnam's waters. In addition, the Border Guard force has also actively participated in building the grassroots political system and poverty reduction, contributing to stabilizing and improving the material and spiritual life of people in the coastal border area.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the achievements that the provincial Border Guard has achieved in the past year.

 Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed 2 requirements for the Provincial Border Guard, including: Closely following the assigned functions and tasks, proactively advising the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to synchronously and effectively deploy solutions to combat IUU fishing, together with departments and branches determined to achieve the goal of removing the "yellow card" of the European Commission (EC) for the fisheries sector. Directing units to ensure good material and spiritual life for soldiers, policy families, poor households in the areas under their charge and twinning; in the immediate future, continuing to effectively promote the model of "Helping a poor household in the coastal border area every week" and actively participating in the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Comrade Pham Anh Tuan also requested the Provincial Border Guard to promptly inform, orient thoughts, guide actions, and build strong political will for officers and soldiers in all situations. Focus on leading and directing the congresses of grassroots party organizations;  successfully organized the 13th Provincial Border Guard Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030. The head of the provincial government also affirmed that he will continue to direct departments, branches, sectors and localities to strengthen coordination, creating the most favorable conditions for the Provincial Border Guard to perform well the task of protecting the sovereignty and security of the province's sea and island borders; building and consolidating the province's sea area to be strong in all aspects.
