In just one night, our army and people destroyed all enemy bases, liberated 8 strategic hamlets, controlled the entire An Lao valley, creating favorable conditions for deploying forces to attack enemy reinforcements.

With a heroic fighting spirit, our soldiers firmly held their positions, fought with the enemy for every inch of land, repelled fierce bombings by aircraft and enemy counterattacks by land. In just two days, December 7-8, 1964, the An Lao liberation campaign was basically victorious. By December 23, 1964, all enemy forces had retreated to Hoai An, and An Lao district was liberated.
Ceremony scene
This victory affirmed that An Lao was the first locality in Binh Dinh province and the entire Inter-zone V to be liberated the earliest in the resistance war against the US to save the country, contributing to encouraging cadres and soldiers throughout the Southern battlefield to rush forward to destroy the enemy, liberate the South, and unify the country.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Kim Toan affirmed that the victory of An Lao is not only a symbol of revolutionary heroism but also a shining example of the determination to fight and win of the army and people of An Lao district. This is a victory of the spirit of solidarity between the army and the people, between the Kinh, H're and Bana ethnic groups. This victory contributed to defeating the plans and strategies of the US Special War in the South.
After the country was completely liberated, An Lao has made steady progress. The district's economy has continuously developed, agriculture and forestry have developed comprehensively, infrastructure has been invested synchronously, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved. Policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution have been cared for, and the appearance of rural and mountainous areas has improved a lot.
Proud of the achievements, comrade Le Kim Toan also said that, compared to the historical and cultural traditions of the locality, the results achieved are still "modest", the material and spiritual life of the people has not kept up with the general level of the province. Therefore, in the coming time, the Party Committee, government, army and people of An Lao need to continue to further promote the will of self-reliance, promote the spirit of solidarity among ethnic groups, be proactive and creative, mobilize resources to develop the economy - society, improve people's lives, ensure political security and social order and safety, build a clean and strong political system.
