The Country Director of World Bank in Vietnam met with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company Limited (UDC) and Quy Nhon City Urban Environment Joint Stock Company (URENCO)

Mr. Ousmane Dione – the Country Director of World Bank in Vietnam had a meeting with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company Limited (UDC) and Quy Nhon City Urban Environment Joint Stock Company (URENCO) at Nhon Binh Waste Water Treatment Factory (in Quy Nhon City). The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the results of the first-phase operation, the operational capability and some other necessary information so as to implement the second phase of the factory, increasing the capacity from 14,000 m3 / day till 28,000 m3 / day.

At the meeting, Mr. Ousmane Dione highly valued the operational capability and believed that the joint venture would operate Nhon Binh Waste Water Treatment Factory and 2A Waste Water Treatment Factory as well as Waste Water Pump Stations more effectively. World Bank is planned to continue to loan with the aim of increasing the capacity of the next phase for both factories as well as installing pump stations to collect urban waste water and process.

Nhon Binh Waste Water Treatment Factory No.1

Presently, the joint venture between URENCO and UDC is to manage and operate two waste water treatment factories, 12 pump stations and pressure culverts in Quy Nhon City. Binh Dinh Civil and Industry Management Board had proposed Binh Dinh People’s Committee for the approval of continuing to sign a joint-venture contract between URENCO and UDC. The duration is a minimum of 5 years for the management, operation of the factory: Nhon Binh Waste Water Treatment Factory with the capacity of 14,000 m3 / day uses technology process of anaerobic sedimentation and dripping biological filter. 2A Waste Water Treatment Factory with the capacity of 2,350 m3 / day uses technology process of oxygenated channel. Twelve pump stations are used to transfer the waste water to the two waste water treatment factories and pressure culverts, with the total length of 14,939.89 meters, including an air-relief valve and 10 waste cocks.

The objective of UDC when signing the contract was to widen business activities in terms of waste water treatment and the management, operation of the factories and pump stations not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also in other provinces/cities of Vietnam. UDC would be ready to cooperate in the training and transferring of highly-qualified workers, the management and operation of waste water treatment factories, pump stations – a sector that UDC had a lot of experience for years. As known, UDC is managing and operating two large-scaled waste water treatment factories in Ho Chi Minh City: Binh Hung Waste Water Treatment Factory and Binh Hung Hoa Waste Water Treatment Factory.
