Binh Dinh organized an investment promotion workshop in Canada

 At the Workshop, representatives of Becamex IDC Corporation and members of the Binh Dinh province delegation informed Canadian delegates and businesses about the province's potential and advantages; Introducing mechanisms and policies to support investment attraction in economic zones and industrial parks, especially the province's preferential policies for investors when investing in Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park.

 Currently, Binh Dinh is promoting training and improving the quality of human resources according to the province's development orientation, especially human resources in information technology, technology engineering, tourism, and high-tech industry; Implement policies to attract high-quality labor to meet the needs of the economy. In particular, the province is focusing on strongly developing seaport - logistics services, in order to exploit the full potential and advantages of the province's marine economy; improve competitiveness, attract investment, promote seaport - logistics services to become a service industry that brings high added value associated with the development of goods production, import-export and trade of the province.

 In recent years, Binh Dinh province has taken specific steps to promote cooperation between the province and Canadian organizations, businesses and partners. This visit and working visit with the Burnaby city government is one of the efforts of the leaders of Binh Dinh province to connect, enhance understanding, aiming for long-term cooperation between the two sides.

 The workshop heard Vietnamese Consul General in Vancouver Nguyen Quang Trung give a welcome speech and highly appreciated Binh Dinh province's efforts in investment promotion activities abroad; Hear Mr. Hassan Kamalinejad, Director of Trade Policy, British Columbia's Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Employment, introduce the benefits of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in the field of trade and investment between Vietnam and Canada; Listen to Mr. Greg Smith, General Director of Dan-D-Pak, share his experience in establishing and operating a Canadian business in Vietnam.

Talking to delegates attending the Conference, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Kim Toan said: In the first 10 months of 2023, Binh Dinh's two-way trade turnover with Canada reached 16.16 million USD; In which export items account for a high proportion such as garment products, wood products, aquatic products and imported items mainly include pharmaceutical raw materials and aquatic products. In the province, there are currently 91 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 1.187 billion USD, including 2 projects of Canadian enterprises with a total registered capital of 2.72 million USD in the garment sector of SELDAT Co., Ltd. Vietnam. These projects have been effective and contributed to the development of the province.

 Although initial positive results have been achieved, in general, the cooperative relationship and investment attraction of Canadian businesses in Binh Dinh is still quite modest, the fields are not yet diverse, not commensurate with the potential, strengths and wishes of both parties.

 Based on the good initial results of cooperation and with the advantage that the locality has an important strategic position in regional linkages and international exchanges, is blessed by nature, endowed with many valuable resources. With over 134 km of coastline, along with complete and synchronous socio-economic infrastructure, abundant labor force..., Binh Dinh province hopes that the Burnaby city government will pay attention and promote the establishment of relationships, long-term friendly cooperative relationship with Binh Dinh; At the same time, it is an important bridge for Canadian businesses and investors to come to Binh Dinh to learn about the business investment environment, develop specific projects, factories, and works in Binh Dinh, for the sake of development. development of the two sides as well as contributing to deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
