Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long attended the opening session of the international conference “EDS Blois 2019 on Elastic and Diffractive Scattering”

(binhdinh.gov.vn) - On the morning of June 24, 2019 at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long attended the international scientific conference entitled “EDS Blois 2019 on Elastic and Diffractive Scattering”, organized by Rencontres du Vietnam. The conference is in the framework of the 15th Meet Vietnam in 2019.

Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long delivered a speech at the Conference.

Speaking at the opening session, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Nguyen Phi Long warmly welcomed and expressed his thanks to both national and international scientists for visiting Quy Nhon City. Their presence has created a motivation for the development of Quy Nhon City to become a science city. Besides, the Vice Chairman also expressed his sincere thanks to Professor Tran Thanh Van for creating an important foundation and scientific meetings in beautiful Quy Nhon City.

More than 50 national and international scientists attended the conference.

The conference attracted more than 50 professors and scientists from 17 countries in the world, and it is expected to cover topics, ranging from elastic and diffraction processes in high energy physics to collisions of heavy ions, spin physics, and related topics. The series of international conferences on elastic and diffractive scattering was founded in Blois, France in 1985 by Professor Tran Thanh Van. Since then, meetings have been organized every two years in different places of the world. In December 2011, the conference was first organized in Quy Nhon City on the occasion of the ground-breaking ceremony of the ICISE. The conference this year will focus on the most recent experimental and theoretical results, prospects for future measurements, and facilitating discussions between experimentalists and theorists.
