The Opening Ceremony of the International Scientific Conference “Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Flows”

On the morning of July 4, 2016, the International Scientific Conference “Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Flows” was organized at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE). The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Tran Chau, Prof Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of Rencontres du Vietnam and more than 70 professors, scientists from 24 countries and territories in the world.

“Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Flows”

This is the second international scientific conference in the framework of “The 12th Meeting Vietnam” in 2016. The conference occurs within 6 days (from July 4 till July 9) and scientists present the latest research results related to “Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Flows”

Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Tran Chau said that the international scientific conference is a forum for scientists to meet one another, exchange experience and present the latest scientific research results in the field of astrophysics and promote the exchanges and cooperation in scientific research. Prof. Roland TRIAY (University of Massey, France) who chairs the conference explained according to the hierarchical model of clusters, the eccentricity motion due the universe expansion arose when the material is separated into high and low mode. In other words, we were able to determine the eccentricity motion arising from the distribution of galaxies or the distribution of material from the motion of galaxies. It is a basic success of the model that the two methodologies used in the models were almost recognized by the astronomers.

Prof. Roland TRIAY said: “The topic of this conference is so important, showing the increasing interest of international scientists in the field of astrophysics. This is also a good opportunity to gather Asian scientists to be ready for this scientific research field. For young scientists, they come to the forum so as to discuss about astrophysics – a hot issue nowadays”.

Inspiration and fascination with science

The common point of the scientists participating in international scientific conferences at ICISE is the love and passion for science. Many of them are very young. It is not very strange when seeing young scientists with their devices attentively and seriously listen to the presentations of well-known professors.

There are also elderly scientists who want to fully devote for science. Prof. Davis Mars, an American, is a 68-year-old scientist suffering from a stroke 13 years ago, but he eagerly travelled a long way to participate in this scientific conference. “I am retired, but I still love for science. I want to come to Vietnam this time to transfer the aspiration for young scientists and students so that they will continue on the way of science”

Four years ago, he and his wife first time came to Vietnam. “My feeling about Vietnam is a peaceful and beautiful country. I am very happy to be back to Vietnam this time” the American Professor shared.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh People’s Committee Tran Chau shared the importance and motivation of science towards the provincial socio-economic development.

For the past few years, Binh Dinh has made its efforts to construct, widen and upgrade the infrastructure, human resource training, clear and appropriate policies and administrative reform with an aim of calling for investment and socio-economic development. Beside the socio-economic development, Binh Dinh also takes a lot of interest in science development and the evidence is the construction of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE). Rencontres du Vietnam has organized a lot of international conferences at ICISE, attracting many leading professors, scientists in the world, especially 7 Nobel-laureates to participate in the conferences at ICISE.

Presently, Binh Dinh is continuing to assist and create the most favorable conditions for ICISE to implement the second phase of the project and commits to co-operating with Rencontres du Vietnam to develop science in the coming time.

“The international scientific conference is a forum for scientists to meet one another, exchange experience and present the latest scientific research results in the field of astrophysics and promote the exchanges and cooperation in scientific research; at the same time, gradually consolidate and deepen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam with countries in the world. I do hope that the conference is not only the opportunity for scientific exchange but also better understanding of the historical and cultural characteristics, the beautiful scenery and the people of Binh Dinh Province” shared Mr. Tran Chau.
